I was commissioned to do a classical oil portrait of ‘the young Leonardo’, and this is the first general idea for it. It was approved by the client, which means I can now continue adding a few more compositional details and refine everything before transferring it to canvas.

Handmade Fine Silver ring with a dark golden Patina and Leonardo’s handwriting - ’amantissimo’- carved into the band. While that is the male form, the female ‘amantissima’ is of course also possible, taken from a different notebook entry.

My apologies for the increasingly dropping post-count, but as many of you know, this blog is not my sole life, and I’m currently working on my art and several projects that I wish to start and/or complete this year.
No doubt I will continue to do this as and when I can, but for now it will have to take a little backseat.

Aside from delving a little deeper into various aspects of Leonardo’s life and work, numerous community questions are also being answered in the hope to shed at least a little light on who - and how - he really was based on historical evidence.

Another portrait of Leonardo, this time - as suggested by quite a number of people - in Renaissance style. It is documented what he used to wear, by eyewitnesses as well as by himself in his notebooks: aside from the standard white shirts, there’s rose coloured tunics, Chamois leather doublets and hoses, Cordova leather boots, and fur lined coats…
